“Georgia Pine” is the new 5-track EP from the British rock band that everyone is talking about – Broken Witt Rebels. After delivering outstanding performances in 2015, the energetic, young 4-piece, who hail from Birmingham, are now looking to win over new fans with their infectious blend of rock and soulful blues.
‘Georgia Pine’ is authentic, rootsy, and real, and has serious hit potential. Similarly to the new generation of contemporary and distinctive soulful roots rock bands like Alabama Shakes and Black Keys, Broken Witt Rebels strike a chord. The band pay homage to the sounds of old blues and Stax guitarists, but, at the same time, their unique approach to song-writing and recording gives the EP a fresh and modern authenticity that is entirely unique.
The EP was engineered and produced by Tom Gittins, who has worked on recent recordings by Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin). Gittins cites the Rebels’ lead singer, Danny Core, as an amazing vocal talent in the tradition of Steve Marriot and Joe Cocker – a distinctive heart-wrenching vocal style that’s steeped deep within the inner core of blues and soul.
The 5-track EP will become available for worldwide distribution in April, and is currently available for pre-order from the band’s official website brokenwittrebels.com. The first single, Low, will be released as a music video with a sound cloud link for free streaming on Friday 26th February. With crunching riffs jabbed by soulful vocals these new songs have energy and force behind them that are hallmarks of something big.
2015 saw Danny Core (vocals, guitar), Luke Davis (vocals, bass guitar), James Dudley (drums) and James Tranter (vocals, lead guitar) play at the Camden Rocks Festival in London, as well as two Time Out London concerts including The Time Out Best of Rising Stars 2015 at London’s sold out Jazz Café. A tour as support act for American musician Brantley Gilbert has already been confirmed May 2016.
Broken Witt Rebels have been featured on Richer Unsigned as Artist of the Week for 2016; as well as The Fred Perry subculture Spotify Playlist as The Ones to Watch for 2016, recommended by This Feeling who have tipped Catfish & the Bottle Men 2013, Bohicas 2014, Blossoms 2015. The lead single Shake Me Down from their previous EP has had over 113,000 streams on Soundcloud. This has earned the band features by numerous blogs and sites, including Fred Perry, hillydilly and Indie Shuffle. Following its appearance at the top of the Hype Machine chart it was featured as Classic Rock Track of the Week.
As soon as we get the full EP we will make sure we are amongst the first to review it!
